On the occasion of the 350th Anniversary of the Church’s “mission to Siam”, Cardinal Fernando Filoni read a celebratory message from Pope Francis addressed to Thailand’s Catholics during a Mass in the Hall of Pope St. John Paul II in Sampran on May 18.
“To the clergy, men and women religious and lay faithful of the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam,
On the happy occasion of the 350th anniversary of the erection of the Apostolic Vicariate of Siam, I send you my cordial best wishes and the assurance of my closeness in prayer. With gratitude to God for the many graces received over these 350 years, I pray that you may grow in the holiness and continue to work for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom by “fostering solidarity, fraternity, and the desire for goodness, truth and justice” (Evangelii Gaudium, 71) in your beloved country. With great affection, I impart to all of you my Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of joy and peace in the Lord.
